It has been said that the year 1842 marks the real birth of modern New York City. After a challenging 200 years, clean water finally reached Manhattan that July 27th.

A Thankful city celebrated with a parade, cannons and a 34-gun salute: one shot for each mile the water had traveled. Exactly 180-years later, we commemorate the ‘Crossroads of the World’ with this special project.

The original certificate inside each box was printed and issued in New York City in 1842. The New York & Harlem Railroad was the world’s first street railway and the only railroad in Manhattan at the time. It was purchased by Cornelius Vanderbilt in 1864.
